5 Animal Cafés to Go with Your Toddler in Hong Kong

Got a toddler who squeals with delight every time he/she interacts with an animal? We’ve rounded five local animal-themed cafes that transform a brunch into an exciting and immersive experience, allowing you and your little one to play with an array of cute animals. Cue the oxytocin.

1. Rabbitland Café

Home to a group of abandoned rabbits, Rabbitland Café warmly welcomes both big and small guests to come and visit. As required, guests need to slip on their socks before stepping inside the ‘bunny area’ with rabbits hopping around. The café owner wants you to note that you aren’t permitted to pick the rabbits up. But don’t worry, you still have plenty of interaction with them as you can pet them gently and of course, you can snap lovely selfies with your toddler and the rabbits.

*Note: Children must be at least 4 years old to enter. Please wear socks to enter and reservation is preferable.

2. KURI Café

Proud of their title as Hong Kong’s first hedgehog café, KURI Café is definitely a unique one to visit apart from other pet-themed cafes. The café was originally divided into two main zones—a dining area and a living space for its hedgehogs, and it enabled customers to access the latter through a guided tour that introduced the species alongside a feeding session. Later due to the pandemic situation, the guided tour service and feeding session have been suspended. But don’t worry, you can still relax and enjoy a great meal of pasta and pastries with your children while looking at photos of the spiky friends and learning a lot about this special species!

3. Cat Island Cafe

Got a cat-lover child but not yet ready to have a cat? Cat Island Cafe is the perfect place for you and your little one to visit! As the oldest cat café in Hong Kong, it has more than 10 resident cats who love to be groomed. In addition to their fluffy presence, all the drinks, food and desserts are served on cat-themed dinnerware and utensils.

4. On Dog Dog Café

Is your kid more of a dog-lover? If yes, On Dog Dog Café is the place. Hosted by five adorable friendly dogs, they’re perfect for selfies and cuddles. You don’t have to be afraid even the dogs are bigger than your little toddler since they’re all well-trained. So fret not—you can just let your little one mingle and play with the lovable bunch as long as they’re in sight.

*Note: Reservation is preferable.

5. The Cats Tea Room

If you want your little beloved one to have a spacious place to play with furry friends, The Cats Tea Room is just for you. Over 1000 square feet in size with large and open space, this café is the home to 30 cats of different species. Bring your kid over and we believe they will enjoy the interaction with cats and get to learn a variety of species at once!
